Effects of Texting

Texting and the rising generation.

With unlimited texting and data plans, everyone is texting all the time. Many people believe that with texting comes the loss of social skills that are crucial to normal human interaction. The one thing missing is the science to back that statement up.

Studies by psychologists and doctors show that, with teenagers, texting leads to distraction, stress injury, lack of sleep, and extremely high levels of anxiety. Psychologists are also afraid that texting might make a generation of young adults that are not able to separate from their parents. Instead of becoming autonomous adults like they should and how past generations have, the young adults are texting their parents several times a day asking them how to do things and about their opinions on a decision instead of doing it themselves.

This is a hard decision that has to be made by each family, but should be made all the same, that decision is how much texting everyone is allowed to do. Is it going to be unlimited? If so, then you need to be prepared for numbers in the couple thousands for messages sent each month by each person. It could be a weekend privilege, or maybe one that the kids get after doing their homework. Make sure to do your research on the subject and choose the best option for your family.
